Leave the registration blank CalMac and most campsite booking systems accept a blank registration on hire vehicles. We send your plate through shortly before collection.
You’ve booked an Atlas Motorhomes motorhome and now CalMac, or a campsite, is asking for vehicle dimensions, a weight, and a registration number you don’t have yet. Registration plates are assigned close to your collection date; ferry operators and the big campsite booking systems expect that. Here’s what to enter, and where to find the rest.
Completing the CalMac form
On the CalMac vehicle information page, you’ll see a tick-box for hire vehicles and a field for the registration plate. Tick the box, leave the plate blank, and the form accepts the booking. The depot team will email the registration once your vehicle is assigned, usually a few days before collection.
Tick the "hire vehicle" box CalMac's booking page has a tick box that flags the booking as a hire. Use it, and the booking will hold without a registration.
Dimensions on each vehicle's page Each Atlas vehicle has a spec page below with length, width, height and MTPLM (the weight figure ferries and weight-banded campsites ask for).
Under six metres is cheaper CalMac groups vehicles by length on the price grid. The cheaper band is for vehicles under six metres. The carousel below shows the exact length for each Atlas motorhome.

Common questions about ferry and campsite bookings
CalMac is asking for a registration I don't have. What do I do?
Leave it blank, and tick the “hire vehicle” box on the same page. CalMac’s booking system accepts this for hire vehicles. We send your registration through shortly before you collect.
Which CalMac fields go where?
Make and model come from the spec page (pick the closest match if your exact variant isn’t in the drop-down). Length, width, height and weight go in the boxes below. Tick the “hire vehicle” box and leave the registration blank.
How do I find the dimensions of my vehicle?
Click into the vehicle in the carousel above. Each spec page has length, width, height, MTPLM (the figure ferries and weight-banded campsites call “weight”), and turning details. Take the numbers straight into the booking form.
When will I get my registration plate?
Shortly before collection. If you have a campsite that needs a registration earlier, send us your booking reference and the campsite’s deadline; if a vehicle is free, the depot team can usually earmark one for you. Otherwise, most campsite booking systems let you log in later to add the registration.
Is my vehicle under six metres for the cheaper CalMac rate?
Some Atlas vehicles are, some aren’t. The carousel above shows the exact length for each. CalMac’s price bands shift by route, but the under-six-metres boundary is a common one, and worth choosing your vehicle with the ferry in mind.
