Things to do in Dundee

V&A Dundee, the striking design museum on the waterfront, is the headline, and its permanent Scottish Design galleries are free. Next door, RRS Discovery is Captain Scott's polar ship at Discovery Point. Climb Dundee Law, an extinct volcano above the city, for the view over the Tay, and head out to Broughty Ferry for the beach and its castle museum. Dundee is a UNESCO City of Design, and it wears it well.

Where to stay near Dundee

  • Riverview (Monifieth). A five-star park on the Tay at Monifieth, less than five miles east of Dundee, with fully serviced touring pitches and river views.
  • Lunan Bay (Angus coast). A small site by one of the east coast's best red-sand beaches, up the coast in Angus; book ahead, as it is tiny.

Dundee, Angus and the east coast

Dundee is the gateway to Angus, with Glamis Castle, the quiet glens and the red sands of Lunan Bay to the north, and Fife just across the Tay to the south. It sits naturally on an east-coast trip; our east coast and Borders campsites guide runs right through this stretch, and the NE250 picks up further north. From the Glasgow depot it is about an hour and a half by the M90.
